If you’re a fan of Pink Floyd, then you’re familiar with the band’s 1973 concert film, The Delicate Sound of Thunder. Released just months after their landmark album, The Dark Side of the Moon, this concert film is regarded as one of the group’s finest achievements. Seventy-five years after its release, The Delicate Sound of Thunder has finally been restored to its original glory and is now available on Blu Ray.

The Concert Backstory:

In 1988, Delicate Sound of Thunder embarked on their first national tour, supporting their debut studio album, “Out of the Silent Planet.” The tour spanned over five nights at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. The concerts were filmed and recorded for future release.

Ever wanted to know what it was like to be in the front row of a concert? Well, now you can! This documentary, shot by director Wayne Hull, captures the energy and excitement of a live performance from the front row. The Concert tells the story of how the concert came to be and how its unique format came from the Beatles’ first U.S.

LPCM 2.0 (96kHz, 24-bit) offers an immersive experience with two channels of high-resolution audio that faithfully recreates the original 1988 show. Meanwhile, DTS-HD Master Audio 5 ups the ante with its five discrete surround sound channels that bring listeners into the show’s heart as they hear every instrument loud and clear in all directions.

Video Specs:

The video component was encoded in MPEG-4 AVC, providing an excellent image even when presented on traditional television screens or other smaller displays. An aspect ratio of 16:9 was maintained throughout, and an NTSC color range was used to ensure vibrant colors and a faithful representation of the original scene lighting. Furthermore, an interlaced scan rate with a maximum resolution of 720×480 enabled compatible devices to reproduce a near HD picture quality at a low bitrate.

What I Didn’t Like About The Delicate Sound Of Thunder

The concert was recently held in New York City to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s iconic album. It was an incredible event that had fans from all over the world flocking to see it. Unfortunately, there were a few things about The concert that I didn’t like. 

First and foremost, no interviews or backstage footage were included in the show. I felt this was a missed opportunity for fans to get a closer look at what goes into a live performance of such a classic album. Not having access to these behind-the-scenes moments took away from experience. 

Additionally, I wasn’t impressed with some of the sound quality during the concert.

Final Thoughts

The concert was an overall success. With its diverse and influential setlist, the show captured the hearts of many fans worldwide. It was a unique experience that brought together classic rock hits with newer ones in an unforgettable way. The performance displayed Pink Floyd’s unique technical expertise and ability to craft a captivating atmosphere on stage. All band members played their roles flawlessly and left the audience thrilled with their performance.
